Fuel Analysis

Fuel analysis can identify potential causes for fuel filter plugging, smoking, loss of power, poor injector performance, malfunctioning throttle position sensors and sticking valves. Testing also confirms a diesel fuel's sulfur content, biodiesel content and compliance with manufacturer specifications and standards for cleanliness that could affect equipment warranty requirements.

Fuel Analysis Testing

While POLARIS Laboratories® offers multiple fuel testing packages, we can also customize packages to accommodate requests specific to individual customer requirements.

Additional Resources

Diesel Fuel Troubleshooting Test Packages

The following packages have been developed to identify the reasons you may be experiencing specific problems. They are informative tests to consider before making a decision to perform more extensive fuel quality testing.

Diesel Fuel Wear Prevention Test Packages

This package can identify water contamination, excessive particles or issues with lubricity specifications that could affect the performance of fuel system components and cause premature failure.

Tests include:

Diesel Fuel Quality Test Packages

These tests determine whether or not a diesel fuel meets manufacturer specifications and evaluates how well it can be expected to perform under both summer and winter weather conditions.

Biodiesel Fuel Analysis

Testing biodiesel fuel deliveries can also be instrumental in avoiding potential maintenance problems. Like petroleum-based diesel, biodiesel can contribute to fuel filter plugging if physical properties aren't monitored regularly. Suitability for use is more of a concern with biodiesel as its natural composition allows for a typical shelf life of about six months. As degradation begins, a natural breeding ground for biological growth can develop quickly and testing therefore becomes imperative.

Technical Bulletins

Biodiesel Troubleshooting Test Packages

The following tests address some of the most common problems users experience with biodiesel blends. They will identify water contamination, the presence of bacteria, fungi and mold, oxidation and oxidation tendencies, confirm biodiesel content and determine possible reasons for poor cold weather performance.
