All engine coolants contain corrosion inhibitors that help prevent corrosion and cooling system failure. However, monitoring corrosion inhibitors may require different testing. Achieving the coolant manufacturer’s lifespan for heavy-duty extended life coolants is possible when coupled with regular fluid analysis monitoring. A range of concerns during operation can affect the engine coolants’ fluid properties decreasing the effectiveness for protection. Join Emily Featherston, Product Application Supervisor, as she discusses extended life coolants, concerns within the operation that could affect the coolant properties and how testing differs from conventional based coolant formulations for condition monitoring.
Topics include:
- Explanation of different coolant formulations and applications
- Benefits and uses for extended life coolant
- Concerns that will impact coolant properties and decrease fluid lifespan
- Proper test methods and the importance of monitoring corrosion inhibitors
