COVID-19 Readiness at POLARIS Laboratories®

At this time, we are operating laboratories as usual and will communicate if there are any changes or if we temporarily close any laboratories.

Like you, we have spent the last several weeks learning about the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and how it is impacting our world.

We’ve prioritized ensuring the health and well-being of our employees and their communities with the importance of continuing to provide our customers timely service and vital maintenance information. That has been at the core of all our conversations.

With that in mind, we have implemented a plan in each of our facilities, which will only advance precautionary measures if a POLARIS Laboratories® employee tests positive to the virus (or been in contact with someone who has) or local health departments or state/federal government guidelines call for stricter measures to keep employees and customers safe.

In the Event a Laboratory Needs to Close
Through operating seven global laboratory locations, POLARIS Laboratories® operates under the idea of One Laboratory, Multiple Locations, meaning customers receive the same customer service and data support no matter what laboratory performs the testing. Even if one laboratory closes for safety measures, samples will be re-routed to the next closest laboratory until the affected location resumes normal operations.

We’re Still Here to Help You
As it relates to accessing and supporting our HORIZON® data platform, our application development and customer service teams are prepared to ensure all technology operations and support functions remain accessible during these times:

  • We have contingency plans in place to ensure service and support can be provided in the event of any facility closing.
  • Each employee has remote access capabilities to operate through secure connections to ensure data privacy.
  • We will continue to provide customer service and data analysis support when you need it.

Supplies and Test Kit Ordering
We have not received notification of any supplies or products being on back-order or companies on standby. So, we will continue to promptly fulfill all orders received.

During these challenging times, we are well positioned to meet your needs and help you access results and information to help you save more of your equipment. If you are seeking something more, less or different, please share your needs and we’ll be sure to provide the information you need. Contact your account manager or the POLARIS Laboratories® customer service team for assistance.

Thanks for your continued support and understanding. POLARIS Laboratories® values our business partnership and we’ll be here to continue serving you during these evolving times.

POLARIS Laboratories® + Reliable Plant 2018

POLARIS Laboratories® experienced succesful networking and visibility at the NORIA Reliable Plant Conference and Exhibition April 17-19. The conference welcomed hundreds of lubrication, oil analysis and maintenance professionals to Indianapolis. POLARIS Laboratories® was proud to be a premier sponsor of the event and provided many opportunities for attendees to network and learn about proven fluid analysis services.

The pre-conference workshop, Identifying the Causes of Contamination and the Actions That Mitigate Them, presented by POLARIS Laboratories® technical business consultants, Randy Clark and Henry Neicamp, proved to be a great success.  The workshop dived deeply into what causes fluid contamination and the actions to take to reduce equipment maintenance costs.

Contamination control also was the focus of four POLARIS Laboratories®-sponsored learning sessions during the conference taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday of the conference. Each of these learning sessions sparked interest in many of the conference attendees and resulted in a high attendance rate.

The POLARIS Laboratories® facility tour brought more than 60 Reliable Plant attendees to our Indianapolis laboratory location to tour our state-of-the-art, accredited laboratory, participate in a discussion panel and engage in timely networking. Reliable Plant attendees arrived at the POLARIS Laboratories® facility Wednesday evening and were guided, by our Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Debshaw, through our laboratory facility and office space. Attendees learned the ins and outs of how our laboratory and support operations help our customers achieve greater maintenance success and save more of their equipment.

We would like to thank all the Reliable Plant attendees who participated in one of our sponsored conference opportunities! If you’re interested in learning more about how our fluid analysis services can reduce maintenance costs and generate proven results contact us!

POLARIS Laboratories® Remembers Its Co-Founder, Chairman

Don Woods was a technology pioneer and leader in the oil analysis industry for more than 35 years

INDIANAPOLIS – An influential figure in shaping the importance and growth of the oil analysis industry died suddenly on July 2. Don Woods co-founded and served as chairman and chief information officer of POLARIS Laboratories® since 1999. Under his constant leadership, the company grew into one of the largest independent global oil analysis laboratories. Woods was 59.

The Pendleton native was a Purdue University graduate, where he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer technology. That education helped Woods become the pioneer of information technology systems development and integration specific to the oil analysis industry. Woods broke into the industry as Information Systems Manager for Lubricon, where he worked for 18 years. In April 1999, he co-founded POLARIS Laboratories®, which he guided for more than 17 years. In addition, Woods was twice nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

“Don was an inspirational leader who was truly valued and cherished not just as a company leader but also as a friend and mentor by each and every employee who ever worked at POLARIS Laboratories®,” said Bryan Debshaw, POLARIS Laboratories® chief executive officer. “He not only helped set the industry standard for developing cutting-edge technology solutions, but also for providing the best service possible to our customers, and that’s what we will continue to do in his memory.”

At the onset of his career in 1980, Woods expertise in designing laboratory information management systems (LIMS) soon produced the industry’s first software-based data evaluation, flagging and reporting system. The LIMS concept also has provided the foundation for an extremely successful “one-laboratory, multiple locations” business model POLARIS Laboratories® has proven to be extremely efficient. He also oversaw the evolution of the company’s technology efforts with the industry’s first full-service mobile app for iPhone in 2015 and a complementary version for Android in 2016.

POLARIS Laboratories® will continue to be led by its two surviving owners, Bryan Debshaw and Jeff White, chief science officer, along with the company’s executive management team combining for more than 150 years of experience.

Woods is survived by his wife Jennifer and his two daughters, Alexandra and Samantha.
